christmas and resolutions;

My christmas this year was quite a strange one, and definitely not what I have been used to, though that is not to say it wasn't a lovely one. My papabear died earlier this year quite unexpectedly so it was our first Christmas without him; which left my mother, brother and myself. We had a fantastic distraction in my friend Lee, who we invited to share Christmas with us, and it was lovely to have four people in the house as usual. I don't know about you, but I was well and truly spoilt this
year, and got some beautiful gifts. These are just a few of my favourites;

pictures: a) milk duds and sweethearts.    b) urban outfitters satchel.
c) ceramic bird jewellary holder.
d) and f) a tiny clay bunny - my mothers little prank as i have been nagging her for a pet bunny for the past six months.
e) lilac fairy lights.   f) spirited away and all about my mother dvd's.
g) a gorgeous scented candle.   h) a lovely teapot (and matching teacups).
i) hummingbird bakery notebook.   j) whittards yummy fruit tea's.
k) absolutely gorgeous peter pan collar dress by renew at urban outfitters.

I hope you were all as lucky as I have been. I hope you all have a lovely New Years Eve too.  I am very excited for 2011 and all the wonderful new things to come. I don't have many resolutions really, as I feel my twenty two before twenty three list will be challenge enough, but the six I have decided upon are;

one. put more effort into my degree
two. learn to be more tolerant
three. say "yes" to more things
four. do more good deeds for others
five. stop being so frivialnt with my money
six. TRAVEL more

So all that is left for me to say is, Happy New Year my lovelies, see you in 2011!

Sincerely, Alexa ♥

what does love mean?;

I don't know about you, but I am absolutely addicted to StumbleUpon, and have just stumbled upon this little beauty and just had to share my favorites with you as they are the sweetest little notions about love I have ever read, and so impressive especially considering they are the words of children aged between four and eight years of age  ♥

"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love."
Rebecca- age 8

"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different.
You just know that your name is safe in their mouth."
Billy - age 4
(I hope someone will keep my name safe in their mouth one day soon)

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen."
Bobby - age 7

"If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,"
Nikka - age 6

"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they
know each other so well."
Tommy - age 6

This really, really makes me believe in love again.
I promise I will write a post soon about what little treasures I recieved this Christmas soon!

Sincerely, Alexa ♥

number six; visit london

I have just arrived back home this very moment from visiting London for the very first time ever. I have been extremely against visiting London for some time now, I am not sure the precise reason why, though I suppose the hustle and bustle of the big smoke and  the insane crowds had put me off, but I have to admit, I was very wrong and I have to say it was amazing, although it was absolutely freezing; my poor little fingers and toes were so, so, cold! We took a hop on hop off bus tour, visited china town, saw "we will rock you" on the west end, and went to the magical Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. I would love to visit again when it is perhaps a little warmer so I don't feel as though I am freezing to death. Actually, I would love to visit Winter Wonderland again, the mulled wine was delicious, and it could be quite romantic with the right company.

Hope you enjoy the photographs!

Sincerely, Alexa ♥

twenty two before twenty three;

After having read Elsie's inspirational post; twenty-seven things before twenty-eight on her blog; and with my twenty-second birthday fast approaching, I started work on creating my own beautiful and exciting list, twenty-two before twenty three. I figure I must have coined at least three novels worth of lists in my lifetime, many have gone uncompleted, lost or forgotten, but it occurred to me that these lists were always things I needed to do; chores, jobs and errands; so it was time to compile a list of things I actually wanted to do.

Everything on the list is do-able, or at least, I should be able to start every single one of them before my twenty-second year is out, in fact by tomorrow I will have completed one, and started another two of the things from my list, numbers two, six and twelve. I promise to update my blog as I complete each thing from my list, with photo evidence too.

Sincerely, Alexa ♥
